Wearing the right running shoe helps reduce the risk of foot problems and injury. Proper running shoes can make your running experience more satisfying as well. Needless to say, selecting the correct running shoes takes into account more than what looks good on your feet and the price of the shoes.

One of the first things to consider is pronation — the heel-to-toe motion as your foot strikes the ground. Proper pronation lessens the force of the impact. Examine an old pair of walking shoes. If the shoes show wear on the outside of the heel or on the forefoot, you likely have a problem with pronation.
